THE LAGOON GUIDE

1. WHAT THE LAGOON IS

Three shared lagoons, each with room for twenty anglers. Tap LAGOON on the Career map and you are dropped onto the path with everyone else who is there. Tap the grass to walk, tap the water to cast. Your line fishes itself once it is in.

2. WHAT IT PAYS

• 90% of your best water's rate, hands-free. Coins and XP tick in every two seconds while your bobber is in, scaled to the highest location you have unlocked, so the lagoon grows with you.
• Gems drop in at random on the same tick.
• You can stand at the shore for as long as you like. Close the chat and your angler stays put.

3. WHAT SURFACES HERE

Every ten seconds of line-in-the-water time rolls the lagoon's drop table. Relics and blueprints turn up on the rod and at the Pond as well; the lagoon is simply another place they surface, and a generous one.

• Relics. The Tackle Box pieces drop at random, with a d3 for an item, coins, or steel; Old Salt's Lucky Ring doubles the odds. Relics are permanent effects: rarer catches, more gems, stronger megalodon odds, and more.
• Blueprints. Pieces for your Pond surface here at twice the rate of the rod, rarest tiers checked first.
• Bits of the Arc. Found only in the lagoon: a 1-in-25 roll each tick. A drop is usually one bit, and one pull in three is a cluster of four to seven. Five hundred bits forge the Arc Rod on the Career page. Once you own the rod, every bit still counts for the weekly bits tournament and pays coins on top.
• Bit Rush. Every day a two-hour window opens somewhere between 7 AM and 4 PM Phoenix time and doubles bit drops. The lagoon readout shows 2X while it is on.
• Boot coins. Now and then a boot floats up. Tap it to flip the coin inside: heads is nothing, tails is 50,000 coins, and if it lands on its side, Dee's Lost Rod is yours: the one rod that is never sold.

4. LAGOO NESS

Each lagoon runs its own timetable. A few times an hour she surfaces from the middle of the pool for two minutes, foam boiling around her. Everyone present can tap her, and every tap pays coins, with a chance of gems on one tap per visit. Every tenth tap surfaces a handful of Bits of the Arc, three to eight at a time.

The first angler to forty taps wins the round and rolls for Lil Goo, her hatchling: 1 in 200, or 1 in 100 with Old Salt's Lucky Ring. When someone lands her the whole lagoon hears about it. If nobody reaches forty, she retreats back to the depths. Old Salt will introduce her the first time you are there for one.

5. CHAT, FRIENDS AND MANNERS

• Chat sits at the bottom of the screen. Tap it to type; lines show over your head and in the log. While the chat is open your angler stays anchored, and for a second after you close it a tap on the water will not walk you off.
• Friends. Hard-press anyone on the shore to see who is standing there, then add them. Friends show where they are fishing, take messages, and can visit your Pond.
• Looks and pets. The wardrobe and pet buttons let you change what you are wearing and who follows you without leaving the water.
• Report and mute. Hard-press a chat line to report or mute its sender. Player moderators wear a hook beside their name and can quiet a lagoon while the team reviews.

6. THE SHORT VERSION

• Cast once, stay as long as you like, chat if you feel like it.
• Everything on the drop table above surfaces here, and Bits of the Arc surface nowhere else.
• When the water starts to foam, tap fast.
